Congratulations to H.E. Sheikh Tariq Bin Faisal bin Khalid Al Qassimi, who brings home a gold and silver medal from London!
Sheikh Tariq competed at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam in London this month, and after a hard fought competition, topped the pedestal with a gold in the open weight category. He also earned a silver medal in his weight division.
A Third First!
So we’re all about firsts at the moment. Readers of our blog will know that we recently celebrated a first with the bringing home of the region’s first MMA belt, an incredible achievement, and that was brought about by our Champion Muay Thai coach Mounir Lazzez! This was then followed by very welcome news that Team Nogueira Dubai has received official accreditation from the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation – the first in the region to do so!
We can now add a third to this list of firsts: Sheikh Tariq is the first UAE black belt to win a gold medal in the Grand Slam. Mabrouk, we are all very proud of you!
On a Roll?
We’re pleased to announce Sheikh Tariq will also be competing in the upcoming 2016 Abu Dhabi World Pros! It’s a real inspiration to all of us to see a 43 year old competing at a lower bracket with both young and high level BJJ black belts. He leads by example and is a wonderful role model to the next generation of local talent! 🇦🇪
